MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1946 film?

Chuck Scoutt is an unemployed veteran. One day he finds a wallet lost and decides to find his owner, who happens to be a gangster named Eddie Roman. Eddie, grateful, Chuck decides to hire as a chauffeur, who delves into the dangerous underworld. True to his new job, Chuck slowly know Lorna, wife of Eddie, reaching love. Upon discovering that Lorna is a prisoner of Eddie and that he has been deprived of freedom to her aid, searching in vain for a way out through dark streets and endangering his own life. A remake called The Chase (2011) was made based on this movie.
