MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1945 film?

In Turin 1860, Ignazio Travet lives with his family: his second wife, Rose, his eldest daughter Marianin, their two young children and her maid Brigida. Travet, state official is a man with bad luck. He has been working 32 years without ever having received neither a gratuity or a promotion, looking with resignation and without complaint, as labor companions are still doing much unless he has been rewarded and promoted, and having to endure daily to a section chief repellent. At home, things are not much better. His wife is a very dominant lady does and undoes what you want with it. Your daughter is in love with the village baker, however his wife does not accept this relationship, since you have not considered worthy of their social class. One day you get to work the new division chief, Francesco Battilocchio, which coincidentally, is housed in the same building in which he lives Travet. While Battilocchio is making the move, meets Rosa, from this time, the miseries of Travet grow even larger.
