MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1956 film?

Shower talks about how the negative aspects of married life can become overwhelming and stressful. Setsuko Hara plays a woman whose existence seems to be reduced to nothing more than survive on two meals a day and constantly fighting with her husband. The task of the husband is to give the appearance that the situation can not go on much longer, but without accepting the idea that his wife get a job to improve the financial situation of the couple. He feels that he should be separated so they can return to their village and start a new life. Jealousy sprout among neighbors as each sees the other as fortunate to have a spouse better and more comprehensive than himself. The ending is a wonderful metaphor for how the two players must work together so that the world does not explode in their faces.
