Dark Love (1957) is a drama directed by Edvin Laine, based on Väinö Linna's novel of the same name. Marjatta (Eeva-Kaarina Volanen) lives with her widowed father, Arttu Salmela (Edvin Laine), who works as a factory worker, in poor conditions in Tampere. Marjatta gets to know engineering student Pauli Haantiehe (Jussi Jurkka), whose constantly worsening mental health problems and jealousy become a threat to Marjata and her close circle
