The chronicle takes place in a small village in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca, Mexico. Lupe is a beautiful and happy teenager out from the rest of the residents of the place and arouses admiration of men. One night she meets the ocean Juancho and falls for him. Juancho must from Veracruz, promising to return in time for marriage. Over the months and in the absence of Juancho, Lupe accepts engage with another guy who does not want to.
