MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1997 film?

End of XIX century. A man by the deep Brazil pilgrim spreading the word of God and the kingdom of the Lord promised on earth. The misery and hope to achieve a legion of faithful will follow in his footsteps. Unable to pay the taxes demanded by the newly installed republic and seduced by the proposals of the Messiah, Lucena takes his family and joins the crew. But, Luiza, the eldest daughter, does not want to go and escapes. Beautiful, jobs and housing discover without difficulty in a club hostess. Lost in an inhospitable passion, stands Canudos arroparía the people who dream of justice, equality and faith. But this paradise is not viewed favorably by the republican government, since the blessed it as a threat. There begins a merciless military campaign to end the "holy city".
