Biography of French writer Honoré de Balzac, focusing mainly on his relationship with women. Despite his rough manners, unrelated to any sophistication, and its unattractive appearance, Balzac exercised an irresistible fascination for them. However, only two women were really important in his life: his mother Charlotte, a woman cold, manipulative and authoritarian, he never gave the love I needed, and the cute and lovely Eva Hanska, whom Balzac followed by Switzerland, Germany and Russia on a relentless crusade to win her heart.
